Today’s Forecast: January 17, 2019

Temperatures tonight will drop to around freezing before slowly rising into the mid and upper 30s by dawn. A light wintry mix is expected after 8 PM this evening, with most of the frozen precipitation staying north of Salisbury.

Friday will have gradually clearing skies and milder temperatures in the upper 40s.

Clouds move back in on Saturday with temperatures in the mid and upper 40s. Expect rain to begin after dark and continue through the night. Rain will fall through the morning hours on Sunday before slowly tapering off during the early afternoon. The rain may briefly change to a wintry mix before it ends as an arctic front pushes through. Temperatures will start in the mid 50s during the morning and drop into the teens and 20s by the evening. This could create a flash freeze situation as well, meaning anything wet on the ground will quickly freeze, creating hazardous conditions. We’re also concerned about strong wind gusts above 40 mph and wind chill values that will likely drop below zero Sunday night and Monday morning.

Temperatures on Monday will only be in the low and mid 20s under partly sunny skies, but wind chills will be in the single digits due to gusty winds. Tuesday will be mostly sunny with temperatures in the mid 30s. Showers are possible on Wednesday with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Showers linger into Thursday with some cooler air moving in as highs drop back into the mid 40s.

Have a great night!
