LAUREL, Del. – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a house fire that occurred Sunday afternoon in the 200 block of W. Tenth Street.

Officials say they received the report of a fire in a wood framed single family home just before 2:30 PM.

We’re told the 75-year-old female occupant was able to escape the home and was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of burn injuries, but was later admitted to the Chester Crozier Burn Center.

No other injures were reported.

Officials say the fire was contained at around 4 PM, and it is unknown at this time if the home had working smoke detectors. Fire damage has been estimated at $125,000.
