Parsonsburg man convicted, sentenced on firearm charges

1280 Stephen Truitt

SALISBURY, Md. – A Parsonsburg man has been sentenced on charges stemming from an investigation earlier this year.

29-year-old Stephen Truitt pleaded guilty late last week to one count of possession of a regulated firearm by a prohibited person and one count of reckless endangerment. The judge accepted the plea and subsequently sentenced Truitt to 20 years incarceration with all but 5 years suspended, which is a mandatory minimum sentence.

The investigation took place on May 26, 2022, when the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office executed a search and seizure warrant on Truitt’s Parsonsburg residence. Truitt was located outside of the home at the time of the search and told law enforcement that there were two females and two children inside of the home. He also told police that there was a handgun on the kitchen counter. A loaded semi-automatic 9mm handgun was found on the kitchen counter, and Truitt is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a previous second degree assault conviction.
