Beaver Dam Road near Lewes closed for roadwork

LEWES, Del. –  As of Monday morning, Beaver Dam Road near Lewes is closed and it will remain closed for at least another month while crews work to replace a pipe.

Crews have to remove a pair of corrugated metal pipes that allow the creek to pass under the road, and replace it with a pair of concrete pipes.

Additional work may include the installation of a guardrail on the road, reconstruction of roadway entrances, and efforts to reduce further erosion in nearby streams.

Jay Evans, an Engineer With DelDOT said, “It’s a short duration job. We should be in and out in approximately a month, maybe a little more and then we will be out of your hair.”

The road is slated to reopen on February 22nd.

Detour signage and message boards have been posted to help drivers.
