Car strikes front steps of Rehoboth Beach Post Office

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – A man attempting to park in front of the Rehoboth Beach Post Office mistakenly accelerated and crashed into the front steps of the building on Friday.
According to the Rehoboth Beach Police Department, an 82-year-old man tried to park his red Lincoln MKZ in a parking space in front of the post office. That is when he mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake causing the car to drive onto the sidewalk.
The car reportedly struck a sign and a bench before stopping against the railing of the front steps of the Rehoboth Beach Post Office.
Police say no one was injured as a result of the collision. The car, the sign and the bench were all damaged during the collision.
The 82-year-old man was not charged.
