One woman arrested in connection to Dover purse snatching

DOVER, Del. – One person was arrested after stealing a purse from a 57-year-old woman on Friday afternoon.
According to the Dover Police Department, officers were called to the Food Lion grocery store, located at 1030 Forrest Avenue for a reported robbery.
Reports say that upon arrival, police contacted a 57-year-old victim who said her purse was stolen by Rhonda Martin from her shopping cart.
The victim said she followed Martin into the parking lot, where a struggle ensued over the purse. Martin struck the victim several times before fleeing in a white Ford Explorer.
Police say officers in the area spotted the Explorer traveling south on the POW-MIA Parkway towards Rodney Village.
Officers attempted to stop Martin, but the 49-year-old woman fled and led them south on S. State Street, East on Route 10, North on Bay Road, and into the King’s Cliff Mobile Home Park off of Bay Road.
Martin reportedly stopped and was taken into custody without further incident.
Martin was charged with Robbery Second Degree along with several traffic offenses stemming from the pursuit.
