Harrington man arrested following domestic incident
HARRINGTON, Del. – Harrington Police have arrested a man in connection to a domestic dispute that happened in early December.
Police say that on the night of December 7th, they were called to respond to the Arby’s on South DuPont Highway in Harrington for a reported domestic dispute in progress. On arrival, police made contact with the suspect, 31-year-old Jose Colombo, and an adult female victim.
Further investigation revealed that Colombo and the victim had engaged in an argument in the parking lot, during which Colombo allegedly assaulted and attempted to choke the victim. Colombo also reportedly took the battery out of the victim’s phone.
Colombo began to make suicidal statements and complained of medical problems after being taken into police custody. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and later taken to a psychiatric facility for further treatment. On December 21st, he was released from the psychiatric facility and turned over to the Harrington Police Department, where he was charged with strangulation, theft, harassment, offensive touching, and disorderly conduct. Officials say he also had an active capias out of Kent County Family Court for failure to appear for a trial.
He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institute on $1,000 cash only bond and $8,500 secured bond.
