UPDATE: Police investigating fatal accident, identities released
POCOMOKE, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a deadly car accident in Pocomoke.
Investigators say one car crashed near the Sysco Eastern Maryland, LLC around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The driver, identified as Richard Kleinert, and a 10-year-old male rear seat passenger were trapped and had to be extracted from the vehicle. The 10-year-old was flown to John Hopkins Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
The front seat passenger, identified as 47-year-old Rebecca Kleinert, of Levittown, NY was pronounced dead on scene.
A one-year-old German Shepherd was also reportedly in the vehicle at the time of the crash and has not been located. Police are asking anyone who locates the missing dog to contact the Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack at 443-260-3700.
We’re told that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation. Any witnesses of the crash are also asked to contact the Princess Anne Barrack.
