Salisbury University seeks applicants for revamped Family Advisory Council

SALISBURY, Md.- Are you a parent of a current Salisbury University student?

If so, the university is now seeking applicants for its re-branded Family Advisory Council.

The goal is gets families and parents more involved in a student’s academic journey.

10 members will represent the various schools and college on campus and 8 will be members At-Large.

University officials tell 47ABC, they see higher retention rates in students who have family directly involved in their education. “Just because their family members and their parents are actively engaged in their success. So, what this means is that we will share information with them that then they can share with students. Then they’re kind of getting it from all angles,” Director of Orientation, Transition, & Family Programs Joe Benyish said.

Family members can serve either a 1 or 2-year term.

Students must be currently enrolled full-time for family members to apply.
