Mr. and Mrs. Claus Visit Berlin With Local Firefighters

BERLIN, Md. – Thousands of people in Berlin got an early visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus on Sunday afternoon, according to the President of the Berlin Fire Company.

The President said each year the fire company takes the couple on a ride on a fire engine across town.

The fire engine stops at certain areas allowing families to catch up and get a warm hug from Old Saint Nick.

We are told the annual meet-and-greet allows the community to get to know Santa Claus and their firefighters a little better.

The community is wrapped around this,” said President David Fitzgerald.

“We started this three or four years ago not only for the children. but the adults love it as well, and we take the opportunity always the Sunday before Christmas to drive Santa around,” said Fitzgerald.

According to town officials, this event is just one part of many Christmas holiday traditions in Berlin like the horse and carriage rides that wrapped up on Sunday.
