5K Run brings out community for a good cause
DEWEY BEACH, Del – Hundreds of people gathered on Sunday to support children in need with the annual Santa Cause 5K and Fun Run.
The event hosted by the non-profit organization Children and Families First had participants come out in their favorite Christmas outfits with Santa Claus hats and colorful sweaters.
According to the Children and Families First Development Officer Laura Rimmer, all proceeds will benefit children who experience neglect and family instability.
Rimmer said their goal is to raise more than $20,000 dollars.
“It is the most festive running event in coastal Delaware, and we’re really a unique event because everything about this day is how we take of children and their families,” said Rimmer.
Rimmer also said the 5K and Fun Run is the biggest fundraiser for the non-profit organization.
