Cordova man arrested after reported domestic assault and hostage situation

A Cordova man has been arrested on assault charges in Talbot County.
According to the Talbot County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Skipton Cordova Road for a domestic assault in progress on Dec. 9th.
On their way there, deputies learned that a hostage had been taken, and that the suspect was barricaded within the home and armed with numerous firearms. Officials say that when deputies got there they secured a perimeter and found that the hostage had been released unharmed; however, the suspect stayed inside of the home.
Officials say the suspect was identified as 39-year-old David Williams of Cordova. After attempts to contact Williams, Williams appeared at his front door and told deputies he was armed and would fight if they tried to enter into his home. Deputies were able to convince Williams to surrender without further incident, and Williams was arrested. Williams was charged with assault, reckless endangerment, and intoxicated endanger.
Williams was seen by a District Court Commissioner and ordered to be held at the Talbot County Detention Center without bond.
