Ocean City gets closer to becoming a Bike Friendly Community
OCEAN CITY, Md – The Town of Ocean City has been taking steps to make their community a safer place for bikers, in fact, just this past week the town adopted a complete streets policy.
The policy will help the town create safe travel for all roadway users like motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians by reconstructing or repaving roadways in the beach town.
As part of the policy, the town will now implement things like bike lanes, bus shelters, striped crosswalks and more when possible.
Ocean City officials also hope the change will help cut down on roadway accidents.
Tony DeLuca, an Ocean City Councilman said, “What we’re doing is we’re trying to move bikes off of Coastal Highway and put them closer to the beach, the alleyways, the side streets, anywhere they can get through for safety it’s just all about safety.”
The adoption of this policy puts the town one step closer to becoming a bike friendly community.
