All Aboard: Delmarva Model Railroad Club hosts open house

DELMAR, Del. – The Delmarva Model Railroad Club in Delmar is opening their doors to model train enthusiasts from across the region for the holiday season.

According to Bill Deeter, the coordinator of the annual event, said all the trains, mountains and miniature figures serve as a wonderland for families that come out each year.

Deeter said the Club has opened their clubhouse doors to the public for 33 years now free of charge.

And, he said each year the model railways become more modern.

“It’s taken 33 years to get this layout to look like this, and a lot of people might not realize that had the old trains, a lot of them today are digitally controlled, so they can run individually on the same track,” said Deeter.

Deeter also said he hopes the event will inspire the young generation to support model railroading in the years to come.
