HALO celebrates Thanksgiving with local families in need

SALISBURY, Md. – The non-profit organization HALO served up hundreds of hot meals for those in need on Thursday.

According to the food manager of the annual event, Rita Wise, 14 turkeys, mashed potatoes and even cakes were prepared early this morning for families who otherwise would not have the chance to eat for Thanksgiving.

The food manager said these meals were donated by community members and volunteers said they hope to bring a warm and loving family atmosphere.

“When they see the donations that the community has given, it just warms their hearts, and it just gives our guests hope, when they had no hope,” said Wise.

“They get hope before they leave here today,” said Wise.
