SALISBURY, Md. – Severe thunderstorms will be possible later this afternoon and into the evening across Delmarva, with the highest risk for severe weather along and south of US 50 in areas of the lower shore. Thunderstorms will develop this afternoon across portions of Virginia as well as central and southern Maryland in advance of a cool front. A hot and very humid airmass in place over the Mid-Atlantic region will provide the instability, or “fuel”, for storms to intensify as they move east across the Chesapeake Bay and into Delmarva.

Very heavy rain will pose an isolated flooding risk, although widespread flooding is not expected.
