Tree collapses onto house, causes fire

1280 Emerson Ave Fire

SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury home was destroyed in a fire late Wednesday night.

Firefighters responded to the 1700 block of Emerson Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m. Further investigation revealed that a very large tree uprooted and fell onto the house. The majority of the house collapsed before the fire as a result of the tree, and significant damage was also done to the power lines coming into the home, which ignited a fire.

Total damage has been estimated at $200,000. The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
