Town of Berlin issues “Tweak our Peak” alert due to hot temperatures
BERLIN, Md. – Due to forecasted high temperatures in the area, the Berlin Electric Department is asking all customers to voluntarily conserve or limit energy usage over the next few days.
Starting today, July 20th, through Saturday, July 23rd, officials are asking customers to “Tweak our Peak” between the hours of 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Peak hours are when electric purchase rates are at their highest, and customers can help conserve energy during these peak hours by delaying the usage of major appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines, and clothes dryers. In addition, delaying the use of hot water, closing window shades, and adjusting thermostats up three degrees can help during these peak times.
