Washington uses second half push to top Mardela

The Washington boys basketball team picked up a nice conference road win Tuesday night when they traveled to Mardela and pulled out a 77-46 win. The win improves the Jaguars to 3-0, while the Warriors fall to 0-4.

The Jaguars would be able to grab a small lead early on Dorian Stevens and Josh Sproul were both able to get to the rim in transition for a few easy scores. The home team would eventually settle in though and develop a little confidence on the offense end. Tyler McCoy would find his shooting touch, pouring in 9 of his 15 points in the first half, while Traevon Brown would add 11. The Jaguars lead would be just 12 at the break, but Washington came to play in the second half. The Jaguars defensive pressure would force several turnover leading to easy scores. Tyler Poulson would be on the receiving end of a couple scores around the rim, while Ryan Water would be able to find the bottom of the net as well. The lead quickly grew to over 20 as Washington road their defense the rest of the way to the win.

Mardela returns to action on Thursday when they travel to Snow Hill, while Washington host Wi-Hi on Saturday.
