Local non-profit hosts book signing event, promotes summer reading/positive messages

SALISBURY, Md. –  Faith Over Fear Economic Empowerment Inc. hosted a book signing event at the Wicomico Public Library Saturday afternoon.

The organization looks to help minority owned businesses become more visible in the community.

Attendees got the chance to meet three authors who recently published children’s and inspirational books.

Messages include self-esteem building, body positivity,  and overcoming life obstacles.

Organizers tell 47ABC, the goal was to also keep kids love of reading alive during summer break. “I think it’s great that youth can identify with books that pertain to themselves and it’s important that they keep up with their reading over the summer,” Founder/President of Faith Over Fear’s Angela Morton said.

“If you get the book, you’ll notice that the last couple of pages are open ended questions. As a teacher, I recognize that we need to talk to our kids more and that we need them to talk back to us,” Author of M.Possible Franklin Bateman said.

“I ask them to tell me after reading the book something perfect about them. Whether it be their eyes, or their hair, or their toe nail color. What they find it perfect, I just feel like its important to draw that out,” Author of You Are Perfect The Way You Are Rasheidra Harmon said.

Each author is also a member of Faith Over Fear and to find out more about the organization click here
