One-Stop Shop event provides resources for community members in need
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Lower Shore Vulnerable Populations Task Force held its one-stop shop event Saturday afternoon with a goal of lending a helping hand to community members in need.
400 boxes of food totaling 10,000 pounds were given out to local residents.
The group also provided Covid-19 tests, sanitizer, information on vaccines, and referrals for mental health and substance abuse resources.
Organizers tell 47ABC, these one- stops allow them to meet people where they are while building stronger relationships with other organizations. “Often times different groups in the community don’t ever intersect and these one stops became a place where they were intersecting and working together. They were becoming friends,” Outreach Coordinator Richard Hudson said. “It was watching those relationships build and that trust that was built within the community and the organizations in the community that allowed us to help.
The task force’s next event will be held next Saturday, 6/4 in Salisbury.
