Bridgeville man charged in connection to death of his child
BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – A Bridgeville man is facing charges in connection with the death of his child.
The investigation began in late September, when troopers learned of a suspicious death of a child. A one-year-old child was reportedly on a ventilator and in the care of his father, 28-year-old Michael D. Lewis, at a home on 2nd street in the Walkers Mill Mobile Home Park. The child became unresponsive and was taken to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital by Lewes, where the child was pronounced dead.
Through further investigation, officials learned that Lewis had neglected proper care of the child while on the ventilator.
On October 24th, Lewis was indicted for murder by abuse or neglect first degree. He was arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $500,000 cash only bond.
