Maple Elementary School raising funds for Marching Lions to perform in NFL pre-game show
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Some exciting news from Maple Elementary School.
Last year, the Marching Lions performed for the Baltimore Ravens and they aren’t stopping there. The New York Jets have invited them to play in the pre-game show for the game against the Packers in December.
However, in order to get there, it takes a good chunk of change. That’s why the Maple Band Boosters, made up of parents, are now in full fundraising mode.
We’re told attaining coach busses to New York could cost around $7,000.
The president of the boosters club, Ashley Robinson says, this is a once in a life time opportunity for the 72 band members. “It’s a lot of money to keep these kind of programs in schools. It’s unfortunate but there isn’t always funding available because schools need lots of money period. So, as parent, we’re trying to step up and really help to raise this money and get these kids to New York,” Robinson tells us.
On November 10, they are having a yard sale where you can rent one table for $15 or two tables for $25. It will take place from 7 AM-11 AM at Maple Elementary Parking Lot.
If you can’t make that event, they are also hosting a cash bingo tournament on November 18th for $30 a ticket. Games start at 2 PM at the Cambridge Lodge #1272.
