Traffic stop for speeding leads to discovery of drugs, gun
MILTON, Del. – A traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and a gun late Monday morning.
At around 11:30 a.m., a trooper on patrol in the Milton area saw a black Cadillac sedan traveling northbound on Coastal Highway, south of Broadkill Road, at a high rate of speed. The trooper stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver and sole occupant, 18-year-old Kyree Coxon. The trooper smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car, and a subsequent search led to the discovery of approximately 64.47 grams of marijuana, a 9mm handgun, and over $1,100 in suspected drug money.
Coxon was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm while possessing a controlled substance, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of marijuana other than personal use quantity, and numerous traffic offenses. He was later released on an $8,500 unsecured bond.
