Del. residents can get a free tree this fall thanks to DNREC and the Delaware Forest Service
DOVER, Del. – The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) has announced that their Division of Watershed Stewardship Nonpoint Source Program is joining forces with the Delaware Forest Service’s Urban and Community Forestry program to offer a free tree to Delaware residents this fall.
This free tree program is part of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Community Canopy Project to expand tree canopies in cities and towns nationwide.
We’re told that 1,200 trees are available, and the program will continue until they are all reserved. Smaller trees will be delivered directly to the homeowners’ address, while the larger trees will need to be picked up. Trees will be available for pickup at the Delaware Department of Agriculture in Dover on Friday October 26th, from 3 PM to 7 PM, or Saturday October 27th, from 10 AM to 2 PM.
If you would like more information on this program, you can call 855-234-3801. Those interested in reserving a tree can do so online here.
