Talbot Co. man charged with filing false report against deputy

1280 Sewell Frey

EASTON, Md. – A Talbot County man has been arrested for filing a fabricated complaint against a Sheriff’s Deputy.

On January 15th, police say 38-year-old Sewell Frey Jr. contacted the Talbot County Department of Emergency Operations to file a complaint about a deputy, alleging that the deputy used excessive force during a traffic stop earlier that day. An administrative investigation was conducted, which is standard procedure any time serious complaints of this nature are received by the Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators reviewed body camera footage, interviewed a witness, and collected other evidence, ultimately determining that the information provided by Frey was fabricated. It was proven that the deputy was nothing but professional and courteous during the traffic stop.

Frey was arrested at his place of employment on Thursday and charged with two counts of false statement to a peace officer as well as obstructing and hindering. He was held at the Talbot County Detention Center on a $3,000 bond.
