FEMA provides over $3 billion to Mid-Atlantic states for costs related to COVID-19 pandemic
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency has provided more than $3 billion to local and state agencies, school districts, nonprofits, and other public entities in the Mid-Atlantic region for costs related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This federal grant funding is being provided to reimburse costs associated with emergency protective measures taken to protect the public before vaccines were developed and distributed to the public, and actions taken to store, handle, transport, distribute, and administer vaccines.
On the shore, FEMA recently provided over $159 million in funding to the Delaware Emergency Management Agency for test kits, rapid test analyzers, community-based testing locations, and personal protective equipment. Total funding for the state of Delaware is $181.6 million, with Maryland receiving a total of $1.1 billion.
