“I think she is an exceptional candidate:” U.S. Senator Coons meets Supreme Court nominee Judge Jackson

DELAWARE- U.S. Senator Chris Coons got the honor to meet with Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Senator Coons tells 47ABC the meeting took place in his office this morning, ahead of her confirmation hearing starting March 21.

He said they had a warm and constructive conversation, where he asked about her service as a district and circuit court judge, as well as a public defender.

Senator Coons said he’s participated in three confirmation hearings and in this particular instance he had the opportunity to dig into Judge Jackson’s records.

“I think she is an exceptional candidate, she was nominated by President Biden in part because of her career experience, in part because of her outstanding educational background,” U.S. Senator Coons said. “She’s also got a very compelling life story and I think she will bring a positive generous open hearted spirit to the Supreme Court.”

U.S. Senator Coons said he not only got to learn about her work experience, but her family as well. Adding, it will take four days to go through the confirmation hearing process.
