Georgetown man arrested for sixth DUI offense
GEORGETOWN, Del. – Rehoboth Beach Police have arrested a man for his sixth offense of driving under the influence following a traffic stop Thursday evening.
At around 10:30 PM Thursday, an officer observed 57-year-old Shawn P. Dailey, of Georgetown, driving a beige Geo Prizm with Delaware registration plates near the area of Rehoboth Avenue.
After a routine computer check of the vehicle’s registration, the officer learned that Dailey, who was the registered owner of the vehicle, had a suspended driver’s license. He then observed Dailey failing to properly signal a left turn, leading to a traffic stop.
The officer quickly noticed signs of intoxication after making contact with Dailey, and conducted a field sobriety test. Dailey was subsequently taken into custody.
Dailey was charged with 1 count of felony sixth offense driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, 1 count of driving while suspended or revoked, and 1 count of failure to signal not less than 300 feet before turning. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $10,600 secured bail.
