Girdletree house fire ruled accidental

GIRDLETREE, Md. – A house fire in Worcester County Monday evening has been ruled accidental.

Firefighters from Girdletree, Stockton, Snow Hill, Pocomoke, and Newark responded to the fire in the 5000 block of Dukes Road, along with firefighters from Accomack and Wicomico Counties. The fire was quickly contained, and no injuries were reported, however, a family of five were displaced as a result of the fire. Officials say they are being assisted by family and friends.

Investigation determined that the fire was accidental and caused by the venting of a wood burning stove.
