Dover home invasion under investigation
DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police are currently investigating a home invasion involving shots fired that took place early Tuesday morning.
Just after 3 AM, police were called to respond to an apartment in the unit block of Webbs Lane for a reported home invasion/shooting. When troopers arrived at the scene, they learned that a 26-year-old male had reportedly been shot once in his upper extremity and once in his lower extremity.
We’re told there were five other occupants in the apartment at the time of the incident, including three adults and two minors. None of them were injured during the incident.
It was concluded that unknown suspects armed with handguns forced their way into the apartment, immediately making contact with the 26-year-old male who was asleep in the living room and shooting him twice. Another adult in the apartment exited a rear bedroom door when a single shot was fired at the bedroom door.
The victim was taken to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Anyone who may have information surrounding this incident is asked to call Detective M. Weinstein at 302-698-8443. Information may also be submitted to Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or online here.
