Wor-Wic Community College adds $106.6M to Lower Eastern Shore economy

SALISBURY, Md.- A recent economic study said Wor-Wic Community College added $106.6 million to the local economy in 2018 to 2019.

The economic study included Maryland’s 16 community colleges, and detailed the impact on how Wor-Wic impacts the Lower Shore’s businesses, tax payers, and communities.

Adding, that one out of every 56 jobs on the Lower Eastern Shore is supported by the activities of Wor-Wic and its students.

“Wor-Wic students by having that education from either a certification or a degrees actually provides a benefit to the society as a whole, it’s statistically showing that having the educational background does increase the regions health benefits overall through their just personal improvements,” Kristin Mallory, VP for Academic Affairs, said.

Also, found in the economic report it said that Wor-Wic’s future benefits to the community total $207.6 million.
