Dock Day On The Bay honors contributions of watermen
CRISFIELD, Md. – The annual Dock Day On The Bay event celebrated the heritage of the Crab Capital showcasing seafood, crafts and entertainment on Saturday.
The Dock Day coordinator says it’s also a way to remind residents and visitors of the city’s roots. The event honors the contributions that watermen make to the Eastern Shore, including remembering those who lost their lives at sea.
“Near the end of the day we do what’s called a ‘blessing of the fleet’. So we had a couple of pastors come out today. And we had a very special guest. which is the widow of a recently fallen watermen. And we dedicated the presentation of the wreath in the water and the blessing of the fleet to Pastor Greg Cox today,” said Lisa Ward, Dock Day coordinator.
Dock Day is sponsored by the Crisfield Heritage Foundation and the J. Millard Tawes Historical Museum. To learn more about the event, click here.
