Greene Leads Kent County To First Win Over CSD Since 1995!

Kent County never beats Cambridge. Sure, they have given then some good games before. But they never win. Just as CSD. They’ve dominate the rivalry so much over the past few years, they don’t even like it being called one anymore.
Well, the rivalry looked real enough Friday night.
Marcquan Greene finished with 3 touchdowns as he helped get Kent County the lead, then run out the clock in their 28-22 upset win over CSD. The Trojans earned the 1A East Regional Title and advance to the Final Four.
It had been 21 years since the last time the Trojans beat the Vikings; or before any of the current players on either team were even born. History was against them, but the Kent County came ready to play.
On their first possession of the game, the Trojans would take a 6-0 lead after Greene broke loose from past midfield for a long touchdown run. The Vikings would ifre right back, marching down the field before Tre lake would shake loose from 40 yards out and take it in for the score. The point after would give Cambridge a 1 point lead. and it would hold going into the break.
The offenses though would get going in the second half. Greene would start it off with a quick touchdown off the right side from 7 yards out. The 2 point conversion would push Kent’s lead to 14-7. Cambridge then would be the ones to respond, driving to the 1 before getting their 2nd score of the night from Lake. The momentum didn’t last very long for the Vikings though as Kent County would return the ensuing kick off 98 years to the house by Takia Caulk. Kent County then recovered the onside kick, and would add another Greene score to push the lead to 28-14.
Back came the Vikings. Lake would add another touchdown and 2 point conversion to get his team within 6. The Trojans would try and run down the clock in the 4th, but decided to go to the air on 3rd and long. Koby Jones would step infront of Greene’s pass, and take it back to the Trojans 25 yard line with 5 minutes to play. The Vikings started driving down the field, envisioning their game winning touchdown.
But this was going to be Kent County’s night
As the Vikings crossed midfield with under 3 to play, they would fumble the exchange with Shakel Frazier recovering it for the Trojans. Greene would be able to run out the clock as Kent County topped their rival and earn the historic win.
