Milton PD gets their first explosive detection sniffing K-9
MILTON, Del. – A police department in Sussex County is able to keep the community safe with their latest addition to their security efforts.
Milton Police Department has a brand new member on their team with their first explosive sniffing dog. Zoey is 20 weeks old and she was donated, which grows their K-9 Division to two.
Milton’s Chief Robert Longo says this allows them to have multi-faceted teams since one of their K-9’s is for narcotics and now Zoey will be used for explosive detection. We’re told she will add even more security to the area. “We have a lot of schools in town, we have a lot of events in town, we are able to assist our allied agencies with different events that they are having as well if they need so we are trying to do again, keep our community safe,” Longo tells us.
He does want to credit the two dog handlers Lieutenant Harvey and PFC Whitehouse. Zoey will be going through training twice a month and training should be done in 20 weeks.
