Two arrested following incident at Seaford apartment complex
SEAFORD, Del. – Two Delaware men have been arrested following the investigation of an incident that occurred at a Seaford apartment complex.
On Thursday, the Seaford Police Department was called to respond to the Woodland Mills apartment complex for a reported fight and possible shots fired. Before police arrived, a fleeing vehicle was described and relayed to responding officers through the Seaford 911 Center.
Responding police located the described vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Arslan Chaudhary, of Seaford, was found with a 22 caliber revolver and a large amount of ammunition in his possession.
Other responding officers received a description of another subject last seen fleeing towards a nearby shopping center. The individual was located and identified as 29-year-old Zolando Bennefield, of Georgetown.
Further investigation revealed that Bennefield and another individual had become engaged in an fight in the apartment complex when Chaudhary reportedly retrieved a handgun from his apartment and fired a single round in the air, in an attempt to end the altercation.
Chaudhary was charged with discharging a firearm in city limits and disorderly conduct. He was released on $200 unsecured bail.
Bennefield refused to cooperate during the investigation and was subsequently charged with hindering prosecution, refusing to provide fingerprint, and disorderly conduct. He was committed to the Department of Corrections on $1,500 secured bail and is awaiting an arraignment that will take place at a later date.
