Brandywine Valley SPCA seeking donations/volunteers for influx of North Carolina animals
GEORGETOWN, Del. – The shelter that took in over 100 cats and dogs from North Carolina needs your help.
Officials with the Brandywine Valley SPCA in Georgetown say that the roughly 60 cats and 40 dogs that were brought in a little over 24 hours ago, not only represent a challenge, but also the beginning of their efforts. They say the goal is to help more animals out of areas that were devastated by Florence and that’s why they are asking the community for help and donations.
BVSPCA Director, Walt Fenstermacher says, “We did actually send out another relocation team to be able to remove animals to North Carolina, so we are expected to have up to 50 dogs coming up from North Carolina and a number of cats, as well.”
If you’d like to volunteer, they need help for two shifts. One from 9-2 and another from 1-5. We’re also told that they are running into unexpected expenses, so donations would help them during this process and it doesn’t just have to be monetary. They are also looking for canned food, leashes, and bowls. For a full list of items, click here.
