Two arrested in Harrington shoplifting incident

HARRINGTON, Del. – Two people have been arrested on shoplifting and other related charges, in Harrington.

On Tuesday, September 11th, police were called to the Rite Aid located in the 17000 Block of South DuPont Highway, for a report of a shoplifting that had occurred earlier in the day. After speaking with store employees, the police determined that two suspects entered the store, began slipping items into a purse, and left the store without paying.

A review of surveillance footage led to the identification of the suspects, 32-year-old Phillip A. Vilone and 33-year-old Jody M. Jones, both of Harrington. Both subjects were located on foot and taken into custody following a search of the area.

The suspects were taken to the Harrington Police Department and charged with possession of shoplifters tools, conspiracy third degree, and shoplifting under $1,500. Vilone was released on $3,000 unsecured bond, while Jones was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $3,000 secured bond.
