On the Job: One More Rep

There are a lot of different ways to keep yourself healthy. Eat right, get some sleep, and of course workout. But at One More Rep in Salisbury they offer a different kind of workout. JD Cherry owns the place and has been in the Salisbury area for the past 5 years. Cherry says his company used to be strictly personal training, but it’s grown into speed resistance training. And he works with many different groups including high school and college athletes.

Because they do so much resistance training, the gym is equipped with lots of open space, ropes and different tools to use for the specific training. To warm up, Cherry has his clients do ballistic training which stretches out your muscles.

Another workout? Ladder jumps. This works on your speed and balance. For sesistance running, you put a band around your waist that’s attached to a bungee cord and run as fast as you can away from the wall its attached to.

Another routine workout JD has his clients do are quarterback drills. These drills are used to teach speed in the pocket and enhance lateral movements. As far as break away speed, you wear a harness that’s attached to a band, JD holds it and you run as hard as you can.
