Police: 62-year-old Del. man charged with 12 counts of rape, involving a minor

SMYRNA, Del. – A Dover man is facing multiple rape charges after police say they found him and a minor engaging in sexual acts, inside of a car, on Thursday.

Smyrna Police say they responded to check on the welfare of an occupied vehicle, parked off the road on Rabbit Chase Lane. They reportedly found Robert Halama and a 17-year-old minor inside the car.

Investigators learned that sexual activity was happening inside the vehicle. They also reportedly learned that the 62-year-old and the victim engaged in illegal sexual acts multiple times over several months.

Halama was charged with 12 counts of rape 4th degree. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #7 where he was committed to the Dept. of Corrections in lieu of $60,000 secured bond.
