Traffic stop leads to recovery of handgun, drugs

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police say a traffic stop led to multiple charges for a Hartly man.

We’re told at around 1:45 a.m. Thursday, officers stopped 18-year-old Aaron Carrillo for a speeding violation in the area of Forrest Avenue and Dover High Drive. On contact with Carrillo, officers observed what appeared to be a handgun in the back seat.

Carrillo was subsequently detained, and a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 9mm ammunition, a 9mm handgun, 27 grams of marijuana, and a fixed blade knife that was 9.5″ in length.

He was released after posting a $65,000 secured bond for possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, two counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, and traffic offenses.
