Portable space heater malfunction leads to Talbot Co. house fire
CORDOVA, Md. – Officials say a portable space heater is to blame for a fire that heavily damaged a Talbot County house Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was reported at around 2:30 p.m. at 11774 Blades Road in Cordova. Firefighters responded to the scene and placed the fire under control in approximately 40 minutes.
Maryland State Fire investigators were called to investigate the cause and origin of the fire, ultimately determining that the fire began in a bedroom and was caused by an unspecified malfunction of a portable space heater.
Total fire damage was estimated at $200,000.
