Felton man arrested for felony possession of drugs, two others charged
KENT CO., Del. – Delaware State Police say a multiple month drug investigation has led to charges for three.
On Wednesday, troopers were assisted by Dover Police officers while conducting a traffic stop on a white sedan in the area of Scarborough Road and Route 1 in Dover. Troopers identified the front passenger as 27-year-old Kiantia Mitchell, who was then taken into custody for active felony warrants for felony drug possession. The driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Tyree Smith, and rear passenger, 27-year-old Davonte Hodge, were also taken into custody.
The vehicle was towed back to Troop 3 and a vehicle search warrant was obtained, leading to the recovery of approximately 12.3 grams of heroin, approximately 46 grams of marijuana, 8 Percocets, and drug related paraphernalia.
Further investigation revealed that the drugs in the vehicle belonged to Mitchell, who was subsequently charged with manufacture/deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, possession of drug paraphernalia not related to personal use, and civil violation for possession of marijuana in a personal use quantity. He was held at SCI on a $38,001 secured bail.
Hodge was released with a criminal summons for possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia.
Smith, the driver, was arraigned for active felony warrants for weapon offenses, and released with a traffic citation for driving while suspended and possession of marijuana. He was released after posting a $1,100 secured bond on his outstanding felony charge.
