Wine industry facing supply shortages as holiday season approaches

VIENNA, Md.- With the holidays right around the corner, if wine is on your gift list you may want to be aware of the current supply shortage  the industry is facing.

Reports show that the wine industry saw an increase in demand due to the pandemic. Due to that demand, supplies are running low.

We checked in with one local winery here on the shore, Layton’s Chance, who tells us that although bottling isn’t an issue for them now, they have seen issues with delayed shipments for labels, cups, merchandise, and their wine tank. Management says they’re happy to have the inventory but want to make sure they have any and everything a customer may want or need as the holidays approach.

“As the holidays season gets closer you get a little worried. You don’t want to be getting all your merchandise December 20th and missing out on that prime shopping season,” Layton’s Chance Owner Jennifer Layton said. “We’ve had to do a lot of things a little bit differently and work a little bit harder and longer hours to get everything done.”

Layton tells customers not to worry, as their favorite wine choices won’t be going out of stock anytime soon.

Layton’s Chance will be having their annual wine sale and Christmas market on November 20th and 21st. To find out more, visit here
