Police: Dover man throws handgun while fleeing from officers

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police arrested a man Sunday afternoon on firearm possession and other charges.

Just after 12 p.m., officers attempted to make contact with 18-year-old Charmize Seymore-West regarding a loitering violation in the 100 block of S. New Street. Seymore-West reportedly fled from officers on foot, but was taken into custody a short time later.

As he was running, Seymore-West threw a loaded 9mm handgun and a baggie containing 21 grams of marijuana.

Seymore-West was charged with three counts of possession of firearm/ammo by person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, illegal gang participation, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, and loitering. He was held at SCI on a $10,220 cash bond.
