Kent Island’s Defense Dominates In Shutout Over Bennett

The Kent Island football team stayed perfect on the year after rolling to a 35-0 road win Friday night at Bennett. The win improves the Buccaneers to 6-0, while the loss drops the Clippers to 3-3.
The teams would both be locked in defensively early on, both posting shutouts in the first quarter. Kent Island would finally get the ball moving in the second quarter though and score the first points of the game after getting a Bret Schrecongost 30 yard field goal. The Clippers then started to get in their own way after that. Backed up deep in their own territory, a high snap would sail into the back of the endzone for a safety. Shortly after that, they would be backed up again before a fumbled exchange would lead to yet another safety to push the lead to 7-0. The Bucs offense then finally got going after that after Brayden Doyle would break loose for a 41 yard touchdown run to give his team a 14-0 lead at the break. Kent Island continued to push in the second half, getting back to back short touchdown runs from Austin Ryan and Doyle as the rout was on. Bennetts defense continued to play well all night, but the Clippers could never move the ball against the Bucs defense.
Kent Island returns to work on Friday when they host Cambridge SD, while Bennett travels to Parkside on Friday.
