Officials look to begin nearly $2 million project on Morris Mill rehabilitation

In Wicomico County officials have unveiled their nearly $2 million plan to restore the Morris Mill Dam, but it could mean up to a year of traffic delays. Public work employees for the county say the dam is considered a high hazard dam, and if the area were to wash out it would affect many residents homes in the area.
Director of Public Works, Dallas Baker, says he hopes to begin the rehabilitation process of the dam by the end of August. While the project is being worked on we're told traffic will be redirected around Morris Mill Road and Emily Drive.
"What we are doing is basically bringing up this damn to a higher standard, it's been a while since there's been a whole lot of in depth maintenance on it that dam there are some trees growing out in front of the outfall pipe's there's trees growing in the embankments," said Baker.
Baker adds that he expects the project to be completed within the next 9 to 12 months.
