Annual Sidewalk Sale held to attract new customers

Local businesses were setting up shop this weekend on the sidewalks of downtown Rehoboth.

This is the 35th year of the annual Spring Sidewalk Sale, put on by the local chamber of commerce.

The event offers locals, and those coming in from out of town, a chance to try some of everything the area has to offer at discounted prices.

We're told this event is a perfect way for local businesses to advertise what they have to offer just as the summer crowd starts to make its way in.

"It brings a lot of people out who normally maybe wouldn't come down into Rehoboth," said Morgan Whittam, an employee with the Ice Cream Store and Peppers.  "And because everything is set up on the sidewalk often times we have a lot of discounts going on, it definitely brings more business down to get more sales for us and for all of the businesses in Rehoboth."

Businesses in Dewey Beach took part in the annual event as well.
