UPDATE: 15-Year-Old Charged with Attempted Murder of Cambridge Teen
UPDATE: Cambridge Police have arrested a 15-year-old in connection with a July shooting that left a 17-year-old seriously injured.
The 15-year-old is charged with attempted first and second degree murder, two counts of first degree assault, two counts of second degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, and related firearm charges. Police say the charges stem from the shooting that occurred on Willis Street on Jul. 25.
On Monday morning, Cambridge Police Department (CPD) detectives and Dorchester County Sheriff’s deputies located and arrested a 15-year-old male from Hurlock on an active warrant out of the Dorchester County District Court. Police say the warrant was obtained after investigators determined the 15-year-old was a suspect in the shooting.
He was taken into custody in the 5800 block of Cloverdale Road in Hurlock, and ultimately turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond.
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Cambridge Police Department (CPD) is investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old with gunshots wounds to the face and foot in the early hours of Saturday morning.
At 12:49 a.m. on Jul. 25, officers received a ShotSpotter alert in the 400 block of Willis Street. As officers responded, they learned a 17-year-old male had arrived at a local emergency room with a gunshot wound to the facial area and the foot. He was later flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma due to his injuries, and has since been released.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim was sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle on Willis Street when a large group of what police say is believed to be juveniles, approached the vehicle. One of the subjects had a handgun and proceeded to discharge two rounds at the victim in the vehicle striking him.
Detectives believe this incident stems from a disagreement with both parties, and maintains there is no threat to the public at this time. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the CPD’s Detective division at 410-228-3333.
