Senior Fest Brings Community Together At MAC Inc.

SALISBURY, Md. — MAC Inc. will host its Senior Fest on Saturday, an event that combines activities for older adults with information about services available in the community.

The event begins at 9 a.m. and includes the annual Soles for Seniors one-mile walk, a flu clinic hosted by Apple Discount Drugs, line dancing, falls prevention presentations and a seminar on Medicare open enrollment, which begins Oct. 15.

Alison Wright, communications coordinator for MAC Inc., said the event has grown beyond the traditional Soles for Seniors walk.

“It’s an evolution on Soles for Seniors. We have expanded this event to be more MAC-centric,” Wright said. “We’re really making the public see what MAC does for this community but also raising funds for the programs that we provide here.”

Visiting Angels will also be at the event providing resources on senior home care. Guests can also enjoy free giveaways and music from AMP Studios in Salisbury.

Admission is $25.

Wright said the event helps MAC raise money for programs while introducing more people to the services it provides.

“It’s really important for us to provide those programs, as the need only becomes stronger here on the Eastern Shore,” Wright said. “Events like this also bring out the community and show how they can become involved here at MAC.”

Wright said organizers are excited to bring the community together for the first Senior Fest.

“We really are looking forward to this event. It’s a first for us here,” she said. “I think it’s going to be really different for this community, and I think it’s going to impact a lot of people.”
